  • Understand the risk management process per ISO 14971
  • Explore how extractables, leachables, and material characterization influence testing strategy
  • Review quality standards such as GLP and ISO 17025 as they apply to biological safety testing

Andy Makin

Andy Makin has 45 years of practical, hands-on experience in design, management, conduct and overview of studies in support of a wide range of products including pharmaceuticals, medical devices and combination products.

He has an MSc in applied zoology, he is a Member of the Royal Society of Biology and is an EU Registered Toxicologist.
His experience is broad and he has a significant understanding of the scientific and regulatory requirements related to testing medical products.

He has worked in Contract Research in the UK and Denmark for many years and since 2019 has been an independent consultant based in Denmark helping a wide range of companies developing pharmaceuticals and devices.

He has a deep understanding of the regulatory requirements and the needs of companies from small (virtual) companies all the way up to Big Pharma. His main skill is in matching these needs with practical solutions.
